What Makes Up a Blast Room?

Container Blast Rooms

Burwell 20ft container blast room with cyclone recovery system and 5000 CFM dust collector

Burwell’s container blast rooms offer a flexible, self-contained solution for efficient surface preparation in locations where space, access or mobility is a factor. Built within modified shipping containers, these units provide a compact yet fully functional blasting environment without compromising on performance. Each container blast room can be customised to suit the application, with options for different sizes, layouts and recovery systems to match operational requirements. Designed and manufactured in-house, they deliver the same durability, safety and reliability as our larger systems, with the added benefit of being transportable and easy to install on site.

All container blast rooms are plug-and-play – pre-wired with a 10m long, 32 amp 415V 3-phase plug.

In addition, Burwell’s container blast rooms are designed with practical features that maximise performance and flexibility on site:

Features

  • Can utilise all container types – 20ft, 40ft, high cube and side opening

Modular Blast Rooms

Burwell modular blast room with insulated panel walls, LED lighting and personnel door

Burwell’s modular blast rooms are purpose-built enclosures constructed from insulated panel sections, designed to create a controlled environment for abrasive blasting. Unlike fixed, fully fabricated blast rooms, modular systems are assembled on site, allowing for greater flexibility in size, layout, and future expansion.

Each room is customised to suit the application, with panelled walls and roofing forming a sealed blasting environment that can be configured around your workflow and material handling requirements. The internal walls are coated with a durable polyurea lining to protect against abrasive wear and extend the life of the structure.

For safe operation, the rooms include a personnel access door with an integrated viewing window and protective rubber cover, allowing visibility into the blasting area while shielding against debris. Modular blast rooms can also be paired with any of Burwell’s recovery systems, delivering an efficient and adaptable solution for a wide range of industrial applications.

Features

  • Modular insulated panel construction
  • Custom-built layouts
  • Polyurea-coated internal walls
  • Personnel door with viewing window and rubber protection
