  3. Dust collector
  4. Mechanical services (Electrical & Air)

Lighting and Handrails

Burwell blast rooms are equipped with high-quality LED lighting to provide clear visibility in all conditions, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. Proper illumination eliminates the risk of poorly lit areas, helping operators work confidently and accurately at all times.

All blast rooms also include handrails designed and installed to meet AS1657:2018 standards, including platform handrails where required. Safety is a top priority at Burwell, and these features ensure secure movement and operation throughout the blast room.

Equipment Access Doors

There are three options available for Equipment Access Doors on a Burwell Blast Room:

Option 1 — Steel Split Swing Doors

Burwell’s heavy duty hinged swing doors provide the operator with easy, clear, unobstructed access to the Blast Booth.

Option 2 — Rubber Roll-Up Door

Designed and manufactured to suit each specific room size and with internal and external electronic push button control, the Rubber Roll-Up Door is the ultimate in operator ease.

Option 3 — Pneumatic Lift-Up Door

With similar benefits as the Roll-Up Door, the Pneumatic Lift-Up Door alleviates manual handling required for Swing Doors.

Full Recovery + Sweeper Blades

The Burwell Automated Full Floor Sweeper Blade Recovery System is an advanced recovery solution combining mechanical collection with pneumatic gathering and elevating for efficient abrasive recycling. The recovery floor is constructed from pre-assembled 5 mm steel pan assemblies, each housed in a 250 mm channel and securely welded to the concrete floor for durability.

The system incorporates a pneumatic cross-floor conveyor and elevator assembly, eliminating the daily maintenance typically required in harsh blasting environments. Sweeper blade rack assemblies are operated via wire rope, 25 mm pitch chain, connectors, and guides, and are powered by a 2.2 kW electrical reduction gear drive motor with torque limiter and a 200 mm stroke automatic tensioner. Back scraper blades on the racks ensure minimal abrasive buildup at the ends of the floor.

Safety is built in: a control panel interlock system automatically shuts down the recovery floor and blasting operations if an obstruction or slippage occurs, while indicator lights notify operators of any stoppage. This ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation while maintaining consistent abrasive recovery.

Key Benefits

  • Efficient combination of mechanical and pneumatic abrasive recovery
  • Minimal daily maintenance required
  • Durable 5 mm steel pan floor assemblies with back scraper blades
  • Safe operation with interlock system and indicator alerts
  • Optimised for high-capacity industrial blast rooms
