GMA NewSteel
GMA NewSteel™ is a high performance garnet abrasive that delivers an efficient, cost effective result on lightly rusted surfaces and thin coatings. It provides unrivalled speed at removing mill scale while holding a uniform 40 - 65 μm surface profile, which makes it well suited to the initial preparation of a coating application.
Blasting rates reach up to 35 m²/hr with consumption as low as 7 kg/m², so abrasive, labour, clean up and disposal costs all come down. Typical applications include new construction, removal of light rust or mill scale on new steel, removal and preparation for powder coating, and work on tanks, piping, pressure vessels and offshore platform decking.
Major industries include oil and gas (terminals, offshore production and petroleum refining), energy generation and transmission, construction and infrastructure, pipelines, shipyard maintenance and repair, water and wastewater treatment, and metal fabrication.
